Drop D tuning - my guitar loves it. So I found this riff that made me think of hot desert canyons and went from there. This song, like so many others on this record, was supposed to head one way and ended up going in another direction. The second solo hadn't been thought out - I thought it would take care of itself, cause my husband is such a fantastic steel player. But it was just kinda lying there. He said "well, what do you want?" and he and the engineers turned and looked at me and I was able to put words to it - "I want SWOOPS! I want it to sound like flying high over the desert, free, epic!" and the mighty swoops were born. Listen for the cataclysm during the outro!
